Seven tryouts tips for basketball players
1.Doing the little things
Performing well in basketball tryouts is not all about scoring goals, scoring goals is a great way to keep the winning going, but the little things matters a lot, the little things are what add up to make a great basketball team, and you as a player have to do those little things in order to stand out, even if you are already good at scoring goals
In fact, your coach is not only impressed by the goals you score, but every coach will be happy to see your little contribution for the whole team, so try to figure out what you can do to help the entire team rather than trying to impress the supporters and coach, if you do this little things, your teammates will also love you for it and you will end up becoming the icon on the court, this basketball tryout is very important, that’s why I mention it first, practice this often and you’re going to see the positivity it carries
2.Talk to your coach before hand
Talking to your coach is a sign to them that you’re really serious in the first place, even if you are not that good in the game, if you just keep silent about it, it will signal to them that you are not ready to improve, ive seen many occasion where a coach loves a poor player more than the icon on the court, why is this so?, this is because the poor player puts more effort in trying to improve than the icon, in fact, talking to your coaches will make them have time for you, and they will remember you all the time, having time to talk to them will create a memory in their minds about you, so take advantage of this basketball tip for tryouts.
Besides, coaches are there to help you improve, so talking to them about your challenges will show them that you value them and believe that they can be of help to you, so before going for the tryouts, often reach out to your coach and have conversation with them and ask them to help you become the best you want to be.
3.Talk loudly on the court
This is one of my favourite basketball tips for tryouts, because of the huge benefits it carries, talking loudly on the court will make you an instant icon on the court, it will signal to the coach that you really care about the success of the team, and it will signal that you’re capable of being a leader, not only that, it will also encourage the whole of your team to fire up,
Talking loudly on the court will also encourage your coach to pick you for every game, it will also make the supporters to love you, because it shows that you’re not selfish, you want to the whole team to perform better.
4.Pay attention to what your coach is saying
Also listen to your coach whenever he is talking to your team, look at him straight in the eyes, be brave, because every coach loves brave people, if you are brave, it means you won’t be scared by your opponents, don’t be a square, don’t be scared to look at your coach, also ask questions when your coach is addressing the whole team.
By doing this, means that you really care about what your coach is saying and ready to do what he tells you to do, by listening to your coach doesn’t mean you will pay attention only while he is talking, when playing, also do what he tells you to do, that will show that you understands what had told you earlier
5.Try to win every sprint
Winning every sprint while playing is a sign of seriousness to your coach, they will quickly notice you and then pay a lot of attention to you than most of your teammates,
A coach is impressed when you don’t back down at a sprint, always try to win every sprint against your opponents, performing well at sprint will also help you to retain the ball more frequently
6.Do what you are good at
When performing basketball tips for tryouts, it is better to do what you are good at than trying to copy Kobe Bryant or try to be somebody you’re not, just do what you are good at, it is better to fail while doing what you can do than to fail while trying to copy someone else
If you are good at scoring goals, then go ahead and be the goal scorer in your team, if you are good at passing, take advantage of your skill and be the person that you are even on the court, besides, your coach already knows what you’re good at, and doing it will show them that you should be included in a game in order for you to carry out the specific tax that you’re good at
7.Encourage your teammates
Encouraging your teammates while on the court will help you become the leader, it will make your teammates to love you, because it shows that you care about each and everyone of them and most of all, the team at large, while doing this, the coach will try to include you in every game
Saying things like, we can do this, come on, that’s a great move James, saying things like this will show that you are a good teammates, and it will encourage your team to perform better for sure
